Juan del Vado
Juan del Vado y Gomez (1625–1691) was a Spanish composer, organist〔Hudson, Barton (1961), ''A Portuguese Source of Seventeenth-Century Iberian Organ Music'', Doutoramento, Indiana, Universidade do Indiana, Policopiado.〕 and violinist.〔The new Grove dictionary of music and musicians: Vol.26 Stanley Sadie, John Tyrrell - 2001〕 He is noted for the enigmatic canons, symbolic musical puzzles, dedicated to his king Charles II of Spain.〔Craig M. Wright ''The maze and the warrior: symbols in architecture, theology, and music'' 2001 p246 "But even substandard monarchs receive sovereign flattery. Thus it was that Juan del Vado (c.1625-1691), organist and music master to Charles II, dedicated to him a collection of six canones enigmaticos and six polyphonic Masses.〕
He came from a family of violinists. His father was player of violin, lute and shawm in the capilla real.〔John H. Baron, Daniel L.
